About The Position

Responsible for the overall management of the district’s curriculum and instruction function. Lead the strategic planning and implementation of curriculum and instruction programs. Ensure that the development and delivery of curriculum and instructional programs are effective and efficient, incorporate district goals, and support student achievement.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Educational Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field required
  • Texas Principal or Mid-Management Certificate required
  • Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional best practices, and assessment systems
  • Ability to interpret and use student performance data to improve instructional programs
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Ability to develop and manage budgets and departmental resources
  • Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and solve problems effectively
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with principals, teachers, and district staff
  • Knowledge of professional learning systems and teacher support structures
  • Ability to implement long-range plans and monitor progress toward district goals
  • Three years as a classroom teacher
  • Five years of successful experience in the Principal leadership position

Responsibilities

  • Instructional Leadership
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional programs that align with district goals and improve student achievement.
  • Oversee the review and revision of curriculum documents to ensure alignment with state standards, district expectations, and instructional priorities.
  • Monitor academic performance data, identify trends, and recommend strategies to improve student outcomes.
  • Ensure instructional practices are research-based, student-centered, and aligned to district initiatives.
  • Collaborate with principals and instructional leaders to support effective teaching and learning across campuses.
  • Lead districtwide efforts related to assessment, curriculum alignment, instructional resources, intervention systems, and academic supports.
  • Oversee the selection, implementation, and evaluation of instructional materials, digital resources, and academic programs.
  • Ensure that academic programs meet the needs of all student groups, including special populations.
  • Professional Learning
  • Oversee the development and implementation of professional learning opportunities for teachers, instructional staff, and campus leaders.
  • Ensure staff development aligns with district instructional priorities and supports effective classroom practices.
  • Collaborate with principals and instructional staff to identify professional learning needs and provide support.
  • Support the implementation of teacher appraisal systems and instructional coaching processes.
  • Program Evaluation and Compliance
  • Monitor the effectiveness of instructional programs and recommend changes based on data, research, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional development.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain reports, records, and documentation required for academic programs and compliance purposes.
  • Stay current on educational trends, legislative changes, accountability systems, and instructional best practices.
  • Budget and Resource Management
  • Develop and manage the budget for curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning.
  • Ensure resources are allocated effectively and responsibly to support district goals.
  • Oversee the procurement and use of instructional materials, technology, and academic resources.
  • Personnel Management
  • Supervise and evaluate assigned staff responsible for curriculum, assessment, professional learning, and instructional support.
  • Recommend the hiring, assignment, retention, and development of staff within the Office of Academics.
  • Develop and maintain job descriptions for academic and instructional support positions as needed.
  • Foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture within the Office of Academics.
  • Communication and Community Relations
  • Communicate district instructional priorities, expectations, and academic initiatives clearly to principals, teachers, staff, and community stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations related to curriculum, instruction, and academic performance to district leadership, principals, and community groups as requested.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with staff, parents, higher education partners, and community organizations.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise and evaluate staff assigned to curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional learning, and academic support services, including but not limited to:
