About The Position

The Assistant Superintendent Mechanical Maintenance at WestRock Company is responsible for ensuring the performance, reliability, and maintenance of equipment at a corrugated medium paper production facility. This role involves leading continuous improvement initiatives, engaging teams in safety and reliability, and managing maintenance budgets. The position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to implement changes effectively.

Requirements

• HS Diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in the manufacturing industry in a Maintenance or Engineering role.
• 5 years of experience in a supervisory role, including selection and development of direct reports.
• Experience working with an organized labor union is highly preferred.
• Training and/or experience with OSHA regulations, LOTO, confined space entry, and government/corporate regulations.
• Computer skills on various platforms, including Microsoft Office suite and scheduling software.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with tank & vessel integrity, welding methods, inspections, NDT.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering is a plus.
• Experience in JDE (JD Edwards) or other CMMS system is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with leading and driving continuous improvement for the Paper Machines, Power and Recovery, Wood yard, and Pulp mill areas.
• Ensure full engagement in safety and equipment/process availability and reliability improvement.
• Utilize resources effectively in a multi-skilled environment.
• Provide input for the development and management of the Maintenance budget.
• Sustain Core Team roles and responsibilities regarding WMS, PrM, ECCM, and RCA processes.
• Participate effectively in Shutdown Planning and Execution.
