The Assistant Superintendent for Learning Services is expected to provide leadership and accept shared accountability for student achievement and significant academic growth for all students in Academy District 20 and provide leadership to the Learning Services Departments and schools related to academic achievement and the continuous improvement cycle. Reports consistently for work as scheduled Performs other duties as assigned Attains proficient or higher evaluations on established Performance Standards Attends all Board of Education meetings as administrative liaison in area of Learning Services Attends all Board of Education meetings as administrative liaison in area of Learning Services Coordinates professional learning efforts for Leadership Team administrators, such as Leaders Leading Leaders, Leadership Team retreats, etc. Coordinates research on methods that ensure academic growth and achievement for all students: empowers insight by administrators into the effectiveness of these methods by collecting and analyzing evidence related to the use of these methods. Coordinates the Principal Supervision Process (and may also supervise principals): ensures that principal supervisors apply common supervision standards consistently and fairly Demonstrates exceptional skills in collaborating with parents and takes a solutions-based approach to solving parent concerns that may arise Develops and oversees the Learning Services budget Ensures ongoing compliance with all laws, rules, regulations, and Board of Education policies Facilitates and/or attends level principal meetings as assigned Instructional leader who reports directly to the Superintendent and actively supports her initiatives and the vision and values of the Board. Integrates the Board Ends statement and D20 Portrait of a Graduate into the work of their teams to help anchor the Portrait of the Graduate into the fabric of the district. Is familiar with the Policy Governance model for the Board and their responsibility to maintain and develop certain Executive Limitations for the Superintendent. Leads the District Accountability Committee and coordinates all efforts related to this Board Committee. Makes needed provisions for a smooth and orderly transition between grade levels for all K-12 and choice programs and ensures that the content of these programs is aligned with Colorado Academic Standards Oversees all responsibilities within the division of Learning Services to include: curriculum development, adoption, and implementation, assessment design and implementation, Professional Learning/Summer School/Enrichment, Achievement Reporting, College and Career Services, grants, literacy, Credit Recovery Program, Learning Services Program evaluation, services for students with exceptional needs (Special Education, 504, English as a Second Language, Gifted Education), management of federal grant funds (Consolidated Grant), Learning Services budget, Title I Director, MTSS Implementation and Educational Technology. Oversees process of all new course approvals Serves as member of Superintendent’s Cabinets, K-12 Leadership Team, and other teams as assigned by the Superintendent Supervises the operation of all committees, study groups, and leadership teams in all K-12 content areas (focused on curriculum development, curriculum alignment and articulation, assessment, and instructional practice.) Supervises the production of proposals for funding, seeks outside grant funds as well as the management of all related grant funds (Consolidated Grant) Supports district-wide use of educational technology tools like Copilot, Magic School and IXL to support and promote student learning and works together with various teams to explore and identify responsible use of AI in education. Supports ongoing professional learning at school sites and central office and ensures such activity is aligned with D-20 Board and site needs and goals Takes a whole-child approach to Identifying and implementing successful academic school practices across the district; Understand and is committed to strict confidentiality as required by statute and professionalism with colleagues. Shares information as it relates to the D-20 N+1 policy. Works with the Superintendent to develop effective methods of providing the Board of Education with timely information regarding the learning and performance of District 20 students and instructional staff
