About The Position

The Store Assistant Manager assists in the day-to-day store operations. The Store Assistant Manager is responsible for supervising all store personnel in the Store Manager’s absence. The Store Assistant Manager works in conjunction with the Store Manager to be a driving force in achieving established revenue goals, while optimizing the level of production within budgeted expenses to maximize collections, production, sales, salvage, and customer service. The Store Assistant Manager must provide support services by working with individuals with disabilities or disadvantages.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Sufficient knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting to maintain simple store records.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in retail and production settings, including supervisory experience.
  • Knowledgeable in merchandising and industry trends.
  • Ability to operate a cash register, count money and make change.
  • Ability to supervise and train team members.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, record and express personnel productivity information.
  • Basic computer skills necessary.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to realistically assess the values of merchandise.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Ability to follow written or verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours (including nights and weekends).
  • Must be willing to transfer to other stores as requested.
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
  • Ability to provide support services by working with disabled/disadvantaged persons.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Store Manager in the day-to-day operations of the store.
  • Assist in supervision of store employees and volunteers.
  • Assist in maximizing collections, production, sales, salvage, and customer service.
  • Assist the Store Manager with the completion of accurate sales, production, inventory, quality, donor, and tracking records.
  • Ensure the timely processing of donations received at the store.
  • Ensure maximum sales performance through proper stock rotation, display, signage, and inventory levels.
  • Ensure that the store is presenting quality customer service to all shoppers, donors, and employees.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and image of store.
  • Securely manage cash, cash receipts, and assist with preparing bank deposits.
  • Report all unusual or suspicious occurrences.
  • Assist in the completion of employee work performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate, communicate transportation, and maintenance needs.
  • Assist in the preparation of the employee weekly work and break schedule.
  • Ensure proper operation of store security.
  • Communicate appropriately with customers and assist them as needed.
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection process as needed.
  • Assist in maintenance and ordering of supplies.
  • Assess the quality of all merchandise received from production.
  • Observe customers to reduce pilferage of Goodwill property.
  • Complete timecards, weekly processing reports, and employee documentation.
  • Maintain the appearance of building exterior and parking lot.
  • Assist the Store Manager with HR reports.
  • Effectively manage the assigned store to ensure proper adherence by the store staff to policies and procedures.
  • Greet every customer and offer assistance.
  • Maintain acceptable attendance, personal hygiene, and dress code standards.
  • Implement and maintain compliance of pertinent CARF accreditation standards.
  • Follow all company and department policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate excellent work habits for employees and program participants.
  • Ensure all safety rules are adhered to.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding Goodwill Industries of El Paso, Inc.
  • Assist in other areas as requested.
