About The Position

An Assistant Store Manager is responsible for assisting the Store Manager in establishing and maintaining guest services, oversees and is accountable for the operation of a store ensuring maximum sales and profitability through merchandise, inventory, expense control, human resources management, and managing operating costs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 5 years of experience in retail store.
  • At least 2 years in supervisory or lead role.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Business related field of study.
  • Experience specifically managing a staff of retail workers.
  • Jewelry Certification trained; GIA, JA, DCA, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that each guest receives outstanding guest service by providing a guest friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every guest, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service.
  • Act as a strategic partner in the store management team; supervise employees when delegated, introduce ideas for business improvement, openly communicate, participate in planning and implementation of store projects and events.
  • Achieve Key Performance Indicator (KPI) goals monthly.
  • Analyze and measure business trends; develop and implement plans to maximize sales and meet or exceed goals and objectives.
  • Control Inventory shrinkage, expenses and payroll.
  • Monitor appropriate merchandise stock levels, merchandise adjacencies and presentations; signing, and assortment in all departments; ensure selling floor is adequately stocked.
  • Responsible for all store security issues including the store alarm system monitoring, arming, and maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean, neat store, including exterior, at all times.
  • Comparison shop and report results; share information with director and make appropriate price adjustments.
  • Review department/store trends and recommend and initiate changes for maximizing goals and objectives.
  • Be an active member of a community civic group and/or a jewelry related organization.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures through regular store management and staff meetings, store walk-through and audits, etc.
  • Recruit, Interview, and hire employees according to Hiring Procedures.
  • Continually evaluate, react to, and document performance issues and actively recruit management candidates.
  • Train and develop store management in all aspects of the business; direct and monitor training and development for all store personnel.
  • Perform monthly Performance Reviews for each Sales Associate, counsel each Sales Associate on improvement strategies, and document the review.
  • Perform, at least annually, employee Performance Evaluations with each employee under your supervision and provide documentation of the evaluation.
