About The Position

Under the leadership of the Store Manager and District Manager, the Assistant Store Manager will assist with the day-to-day operations and management of the store and donation area. To ensure efficient and cost-effective operation through world-class customer service, processing donated goods, quality control, and maintaining a productive workforce.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with a variety of personality types.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including holidays, evenings, overnight, and weekend shifts.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Management experience is preferred.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of retail sales experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all management duties, including opening/closing, all day-to-day store operations, and management of store associates, including recommendations for associate change of status decisions.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating, as well as the development of associates within the framework of GWH policies, procedures, and the associates’ job descriptions.
  • Adhere to working the established rotating schedule unless otherwise directed or approved by the District Manager.
  • Maintain open availability to assist the store with management and leadership needs to include time frames outside of the management rotating schedule if needed.
  • Ensure completion of the daily management duties as provided by GWH’s leadership team.
  • Ensure the Safety Program is being managed efficiently.
  • Manage and influence the team by communicating clear company daily, weekly, monthly, and annual goals.
  • Partner with the store manager to create, prepare, and post schedules, review/approve electronic time sheets, and monitor labor hours.
  • Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions and maintain proper cash accountabilities at POS registers/safe.
  • Execute GWH’s workflow as designed by training, coaching, and documenting associate performances while assessing production progress on an hourly basis.
  • Prepare and administer personnel and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure store supplies and bank orders are placed in a timely manner.
  • Supervise and assist with the training and development of associates.
  • Help ensure the proper handling and processing of incoming donation flow in and out of the store by always utilizing proper equipment according to GWH policies and procedures.
  • Coach by Walking Around (CBWA) for approximately 80% of the time on duty to ensure associates are meeting minimum expectations.
  • Accurately operate all store systems and ensure financial and statistical counts are completed (donor counts, production standards, etc.).
  • Help ensure the timeliness of proper rotation of apparel and hard goods according to GWH policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Management.

  • Must be punctual and have dependable attendance, and maintain an appropriate appearance.
  • Must safely conduct work; maintain good housekeeping standards, have all aisles and pathways to fire exits clear and free from clutter, and keep work areas neat and clean.
  • Adheres to local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
