About The Position

As the Assistant Store Manager, you are the Store Manager's strategic partner and "right-hand" leader. You will help drive the success of the entire management team-including Department and Assistant Department Managers-to ensure peak operational performance. Your mission is to cultivate a culture of excellence, high-quality food safety, and legendary guest satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in retail management or a leadership role (highly recommended).
  • Ability to motivate a diverse team and foster a positive working relationship across departments.
  • Comfortable with accounting, merchandising, and managing short/long-term projects.
  • A passion for providing excellent service and maintaining high product quality.
  • A commitment to honest dealings and Piggly Wiggly's core business ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Store Manager to oversee daily operations, ensuring a safe, productive, and profitable environment.
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and mentoring staff. You'll lead by example in performance evaluations and delegating daily assignments.
  • Manage ordering, purchasing, and stocking cycles. You'll oversee damage reduction, manual backorders, and loss prevention strategies.
  • Help manage payroll budgets, expense controls, and financial reporting to ensure company goals are met.
  • Maintain rigorous standards for food safety, sanitation, and business ethics in all dealings with guests, vendors, and employees.
  • Act quickly to resolve operational, technical, or mechanical issues as they arise.
