About The Position

As an Assistant Store Manager, you will help oversee daily store operations, ensuring efficiency and excellent customer service. Acting as a shift lead, this role involves supervising employees, assisting with inventory management, merchandising, and enforcing store policies. You will help resolve customer concerns, support department managers, and ensure smooth store functions during your shift. Success in this position requires strong leadership skills, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, problem-solving skills and a commitment to fostering a positive store environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in grocery, retail or department management
  • Strong ability to supervise and motivate a team
  • Leadership abilities
  • Knowledge of store operations including, but not limited to, stocking, cash handling, customer service, and merchandising
  • Strong communication skills and ability to resolve customer and employee issues
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to enforce store policies and procedures
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task
  • Comfortable using technology for reporting, attendance, inventory tracking and general communication

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing store functions and ensure smooth operations; and provide store leadership in the Store Director’s absence.
  • Demonstrate PFSbrands guiding principles and core values driving a culture of employee-ownership, accountability, teamwork, and employee engagement
  • Supervise employees, assign tasks and ensure employee-owners are meeting performance expectations
  • Address customer inquiries and resolve issues to maintain high satisfaction levels
  • Help with stocking, inventory control and product displays
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to compliance with all federal, state and local regulations, company policies, health and safety regulations, and food safety standards
  • Ensure the store is clean, secure, organized, and visually appealing to customers
  • Handle issues that arise during shifts and be able to problem solve or communicate to higher management
  • Help with store opening and closing duties ensuring all procedures are followed and the store is secured
  • Assist with cash handling such as register operations, lottery machine operations and reconciliation
  • Support the growth of new staff by delivering training and ongoing guidance to enhance skills and performance
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
