The Assistant Store Manager is the second person in charge of the store and is responsible for the successful operation and profitability of the store which includes training, directing and monitoring all department staff. The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for ensuring that the store is meeting and/or exceeding expectations in areas such as store and department sales, Sales per Labor Hour Ratio, Average Ticket, Customer Count, Cost of Goods Sold for Produce, and EBITDA. They also assist the Store Manager in hiring, training, and managing all store personnel, conducting performance evaluations, granting wage increases, and addressing disciplinary issues. The role involves maintaining clear and direct communication with staff, ensuring safety guidelines are followed, and completing operational responsibilities and paperwork in a timely manner. Managers are expected to be leaders, setting the standard of excellence through job performance and professional demeanor, and are expected to be 'hands on' to get the job done.
