About The Position

Are you a retail leader who wants your hard work to mean more than just hitting a sales quota? At Many Hands Thrift, our stores are more than just shops—they are "Generosity Engines." Every processed donation and every customer interaction directly fuels our mission to improve lives locally and internationally. We are looking for a high-energy, mission-minded Assistant Store Manager to help lead our Des Moines team. If you have a knack for retail operations and a heart for people, we want to talk to you. Why You'll Love Leading Here: As an Assistant Store Manager, you aren't just managing inventory; you are cultivating a community. You will work side-by-side with our Store Manager to drive profitability, mentor a diverse team of staff and volunteers, and ensure our store remains a vibrant, welcoming place for everyone. How You'll Make an Impact: Develop People: Lead the charge in hiring, training, and coaching staff and volunteers. You’ll help people grow by providing constructive feedback and coordinating daily workflows. Drive the Experience: From managing the clothing layout to keeping our Facebook page buzzing, you’ll ensure the store is visually stunning and the customer service is second to none. Master the Operations: You’ll handle the "nitty-gritty"—scheduling, cash handling, safety procedures, and ensuring donated goods are processed efficiently. Represent the Mission: You’ll be the face of Many Hands, treating every donor, customer, and employee with the highest level of integrity and respect.

Requirements

  • Experience: A high school diploma (or equivalent) plus 4+ years of fast-paced retail management experience. You must have at least 12 months of supervisory experience.

  • Core Values: An appreciation for diversity and the ability to positively represent the ministry, mission, and vision of Many Hands.
  • The Basics: A valid driver’s license with a clean record, basic math skills, and a flexible schedule (including evenings and weekends).
  • Physical Stamina: You’re ready to be on the move! You can stand, walk, and lift (up to 50 lbs occasionally) for most of your shift.
