Position Overview The Assistant Store Manager is a key leadership role, acting as a brand ambassador and supporting the Store Manager in all aspects of store operations. This role focuses on driving sales, delivering exceptional customer service, developing the team, and maintaining operational excellence. You will lead by example, motivate your team, and ensure the Spring Step Shoes brand is represented at its highest level.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of retail experience; footwear or fashion industry experience is a plus.
  • Proven track record of sales and service excellence.
  • Proficiency with POS systems and basic software applications.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
  • Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Customer focus: consistently exceeds expectations.
  • Teamwork: fosters collaboration and cooperation.
  • Leadership & motivation: inspires and develops others.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with store leadership to foster a positive, high-performance culture focused on sales and service excellence.
  • Support a team-selling environment that promotes collaboration, growth, and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist with recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention of top talent.
  • Coach, train, and develop store associates to achieve sales goals and deliver outstanding customer experiences.
  • Handle performance management and employee relations in the Store Manager’s absence.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, loss prevention, and risk management procedures.
  • Lead and champion company initiatives, programs, and change management.
  • Maintain proper merchandising standards and a visually appealing store environment.
  • Ensure the safety and security of associates, customers, and store assets.
  • Drive a culture of sales and motivation using incentives, communication, and brand promotion.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels and communicate goals to the team.
  • Monitor inventory, cash handling, opening/closing procedures, and overall store security.
  • Implement key initiatives to achieve sales and marketing objectives.
  • Ensure the team consistently delivers world-class customer service.
