About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager at Dollar General is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized store environment with a strong focus on customer service. This role involves assisting the Store Manager in supervising employees, managing merchandise, completing paperwork, and ensuring the store operates efficiently to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Six months of supervisory experience preferred.
• Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Problem-solving abilities and good organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedures manuals.
• Mathematical skills for cash register functions and report generation.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and safety control policies.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership by greeting and assisting customers.
• Operate cash register and scanner to itemize customer purchases.
• Open and close the store at least two days per week.
• Assist the Store Manager with employee scheduling and training.
• Conduct safety meetings and ensure employee compliance with company policies.
• Manage merchandise processes including receiving, unpacking, stocking, and building displays.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels and control damages and markdowns.
• Implement and maintain planograms for merchandise presentation.
• Ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Assist in managing the store in the absence of the Store Manager.
