About The Position

As a full-time Assistant Store Manager at Famous Footwear, you are passionate about providing the best shoe store experience for the whole family through customer engagement. You act in the role of the store leader in the absence of the Store Manager, developing your ability to motivate a team to achieve sales targets and growth goals. You support an in-store culture where customers say, 'I’ll take it' and are loyal to your store, our brands, and our company. You are enthusiastic about the product and presentation of your store, staying up to date on trends, and supporting the education of the store team to do the same. Most importantly, you LOVE shoes, and regardless of your style, you help every person who enters your store experience a little bit of that Famous Feeling.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • At least 1 year of sales experience, preferably in retail sales.
  • Experience in interviewing, hiring, and training people.
  • Ability to lead, manage, motivate, and communicate positively with store Associates.
  • Ability to train, coach, and develop Associates to provide an engaging customer experience.
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem solving, analysis, decision making, and financial analysis.
  • Advanced working knowledge of general retail practices and procedures.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, nights, weekends, and extended hours.
  • Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Inspire associates with integrity and drive, fostering a culture of caring and camaraderie focused on customer relationships and operational excellence.
  • Seek out and network with exceptional external talent to elevate the store’s sales growth.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager to interview and hire individuals passionate about creating top-notch customer experiences.
  • Know retail operational fundamentals and ensure the store runs efficiently, from pricing to shipping processing and inventory.
  • Support staffing levels set by the Store Manager considering Associate availability and peak days.
  • Drive sales with purpose and determination to achieve goals, applying insights to continually improve results.
  • Support a work environment where diversity and inclusivity are valued.
  • Step into the Store Manager's role when they are away, ensuring compliance with company programs and developing internal talent.
