About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager at Famous Footwear plays a crucial role in inspiring and leading a team to deliver exceptional customer experiences while ensuring operational excellence. This position involves collaborating closely with the Store Manager to drive sales, manage staffing levels, and foster a positive work culture that values diversity and inclusivity. The Assistant Store Manager is also responsible for coaching associates, maintaining store standards, and stepping in for the Store Manager when needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • At least 1 year of sales experience, preferably in retail sales.
  • Experience in interviewing, hiring, and training staff.
  • Ability to lead, manage, motivate, and communicate positively with associates.
  • Strong skills in training, coaching, and developing associates for customer engagement and operational tasks.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, decision-making, and financial analysis skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of general retail practices and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to work a flexible schedule.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a team leader role with a focus on motivating and communicating effectively with associates.
  • Ability to mentor and train associates on selling techniques and operational processes.

Responsibilities

  • Inspire associates to foster a culture of caring and camaraderie focused on customer relationships and operational excellence.
  • Seek out and network with exceptional external talent to enhance store sales growth.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager to interview and hire individuals passionate about customer service.
  • Manage daily retail operations including pricing, shipping processing, and inventory management.
  • Support staffing levels set by the Store Manager, considering associate availability and peak days.
  • Drive sales and improve results by applying insights and observations in partnership with the Store Manager.
  • Support a diverse and inclusive work environment, ensuring all associates feel respected and valued.
  • Step in for the Store Manager when they are away, maintaining high standards and compliance with company policies.
