About The Position

The Assistant Director oversees the store during the absence of the Store Director, with analogous authority, duties, and powers. When in charge, the Assistant Director fulfills all management responsibilities necessary to operate the store at maximum efficiency. This role may require managing the store 50% of the duty time and working in any other store position as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all store employees
  • Evaluate performance of all store employees
  • Recommend hiring of new employees
  • Manage employee relations
  • Administer security and cash control policies
  • Handle customer complaints
  • Report customer and employee property accidents
  • Supervise safety and sanitation programs
  • Assist Store Director with office and accounting functions
  • Monitor all orders for merchandise
  • Oversee upkeep for store maintenance
  • Write employee schedules
  • Maintain communications with employees
  • Implement Safeway's Superior Customer Service Mission within the scope of the position and company policy
