About The Position

Assistant Store Director DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES LEADERSHIP & STORE OPERATIONS Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a focus on fast and friendly service; assist the Store Director with achieving total store CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) and resolving customer concerns. Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via phone, intercom announcements, and direct customer interaction. Answer incoming calls and resolve customer complaints; support the Store Director in closing the loop on customer and employee issues. Assist with total store operations, including implementing Company and Division merchandising, operational, and sales initiatives. Support driving sales, achieving gross profit goals, and managing expenses. Assist with planning daily operations and monitoring production processes for efficiency, accuracy, and profitability. Communicate with Operations Specialists to ensure proper execution of sales plans, promotions, and division programs. Communicate Company goals, objectives, policies, and standards to department managers and employees; ensure compliance across all departments. Participate in weekly meetings with department managers to review ads, sales plans, and promotions; ensure alternate leadership conducts meetings in the Store Director’s absence. SAFETY, FOOD SAFETY & COMPLIANCE Ensure Company safety and health initiatives are communicated and reinforced to all employees. Support and maintain integrity in food safety and sanitation practices throughout all departments. Review training and ensure employee compliance with Food Safety & Sanitation, HIPAA, COBC (Code of Business Conduct), Meat Grinding & Tracking Log, Texas Workplace Benefits Plan, Food Handlers certifications, and any other state or company-required programs. Maintain working knowledge of Company policies and guidelines outlined in the Employee Handbook. Ensure proper code dating compliance for all products in all departments. Maintain storewide compliance with scheduling policies, payroll guidelines, Time Clock Policy, benefit plans, child labor laws, and all employment laws. Maintain accurate and complete records consistent with legal requirements and retention policies. Ensure compliance with grooming standards and dress code. May review and approve departmental schedules to ensure proper coverage and service levels. STORE CONDITIONS & MERCHANDISING Assist the Store Director in maintaining excellent store conditions, product quality, rotation, labeling standards, and code dating compliance. Conduct daily inspections of store conditions and coach employees to maintain standards. Ensure merchandise is correctly priced, displayed, rotated, and maintained with clean shelves and presentation areas. Implement emergency procedures during equipment or software malfunctions. Assist with maintaining positive community relations and communication with manufacturer representatives, vendors, Division, and Corporate personnel. Support monitoring of market conditions, trends, and competitor activities. Maintain positive rapport with vendors and Warehouse partners. STAFFING, TRAINING & EMPLOYEE RELATIONS Assist with staffing, recruiting, hiring, and training activities. Evaluate employee performance and assist with personnel decisions including promotions, terminations, and disciplinary actions; complete all required documentation. Identify training needs and support employee development for future advancement. Assist in resolving employee relations issues—including discrimination, harassment, off‑the-clock work, and legal violations—with HR support as needed. Promote and maintain positive employee morale. Maintain confidentiality regarding employee information, store sales, and Company data. Provide clear direction and instruction to department managers, supervisors, and employees. Ensure compliance with cash handling procedures, accounting of sales, safe procedures, and safeguarding of company assets. FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY & INVENTORY MANAGEMENT Assist with controlling shrink and maintaining inventory levels in backroom and sales floor areas per Division guidelines. Support development and management of operating budgets and control of store operating costs, maintenance costs, expenses, and supplies. May assist with completion of all required reports and administrative paperwork. Prepare sales and inventory reports; support accurate physical inventory every 4 weeks. Ensure accurate oversight of merchandise, supplies, and equipment inventory; support audits and reconciliation processes. Supervise reclamation processing and maintain orderly conditions in the backroom and all departments. Recommend store equipment repairs or improvements to the Store Director. EQUIPMENT, RECEIVING & SAFETY Use and operate store equipment including pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machines. Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying invoices, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product. Ensure adherence to product temperature requirements, storage guidelines, and packaging standards. Ensure proper product temperature levels are maintained throughout the store. Ensure compliance with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, and Company policies. Comply with all workplace safety rules and regulations. Operate computer software and electronic ordering systems; requires basic knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Email. Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay, paid holidays, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis.
