About The Position

The Assistant Coach Part-Time Softball reports to and will assist the Head Coach in directing activities for the softball program within NCAA, RMAC and Colorado School of Mines policies, guidelines, and procedures. The Assistant Coach Part-Time Softball is responsible for supporting the athletic and academic development of student-athletes while focusing on student-athlete welfare.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in coaching softball at a competitive level.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment and manage stressful situations.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the head coach in the coaching and training of the softball team, conducting all in-season and out-of-season sessions throughout the year as deemed necessary and appropriate.
  • Assist with filming and technique instruction.
  • Travel to all competitions - in-state and out-of-state when able.
  • Must be fully knowledgeable and adhere to all rules and regulations of the NCAA, RMAC (as applicable) and Colorado School of Mines.
  • Administrative duties such as travel plans, compliance logs, on campus visits, etc.
  • Attend meetings as necessary.
  • Successfully complete all required NCAA coach's curriculum and trainings.
  • Collaborate annual and long term recruiting strategies that reflect the University, Department and program values.
  • Assist the head coach in the recruitment of quality student-athletes, commensurate with the admissions qualifications of Colorado School of Mines who are capable of successfully competing at the NCAA level.
  • Maintain good relations with the parents of prospective and current student-athletes.
  • Timely and respectful response to all recruiting communications.
  • Travel for recruiting when necessary.
  • Demonstrate a cooperative attitude towards all sports in the intercollegiate program.
  • Must be willing to work odd hours including early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Failure to comply with all NCAA, RMAC and Colorado School of Mines regulations and policies will be cause for termination.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
