About The Position

Requirements

Minimum 2-4 years of skating experience required
Must have intermediate to advanced ice-skating skills, preferably with a background in figure skating or hockey
Prior experience working with children in a recreational, sporting or academic setting preferred, but not required
Must be available for weekday afternoon and weekend classes
Current Learn to Skate USA coaching membership required

Individuals with a desire to coach and/or a talent for connecting with very young children are strongly encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

Assists senior coaching staff with class management and skating instruction
Maintains a positive, creative, upbeat class environment using age-appropriate games and props to keep students moving and engaged
Encourages appropriate behavior of students with an emphasis on safety and community/team building
Actively participates in instruction and mentorship from senior coaching staff
Delivers outstanding customer service to skaters and guests in the rink
Serves as an expert on skate school programs and arena offerings.
Assists with preparation prior to class start time, including tying skates, assisting with hockey equipment and setting up lesson areas
Ensures proper storage and maintenance of program materials and equipment
Assumes additional responsibilities as required
