About The Position

The Assistant Site Manager will be responsible for supervising and maintaining material handling systems at a customer site in Minden, NV. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical equipment and components such as drives, gearboxes, sprockets, chains, bearings, and guide rollers. Essential electrical skills include proficiency in wiring, AC Power, AC Motors, electrical drawing & schematics, and control panels. Experience with advanced control components like Servo Drives, PLCs, PC Controllers, DC Power Supplies, and optical devices (e.g., encoders, photo eyes) is highly valued. The manager will track and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and fault data to implement improvements, create reports demonstrating continuous improvement, and identify predictive maintenance needs. Key responsibilities also include assisting the Resident Site Maintenance Manager with spare parts inventory management using Sprocket CMMS, ensuring facility cleanliness and safety in accordance with Dematic and customer policies, and daily on-site communication with 3PL warehouse operators and management. The role involves coordinating building maintenance services with third-party providers, establishing procedures for emergency downtimes, including management advisories, resource call-in plans, and problem escalation. Additionally, the Assistant Site Manager will maintain and ensure compliance with technical procedures for handling blocking issues, train personnel on Dematic's escalation protocol, and support expansions, projects, and other changes, which may involve overtime or additional resources.

Requirements

  • Supervisory experience managing and maintaining material handling systems.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment & components including drives, gearboxes, sprockets, chains, bearings, guide rollers and other related equipment.
  • Strong electrical skills including wiring, AC Power, AC Motors, electrical drawing & schematics, and control panels.
  • Working experience with MS Office products.
  • Typically, an Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrates and applies broad knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures for managed work group(s) and how it supports related operations.
  • Demonstrates understanding and application of supervisory approaches for work direction, motivation, performance management, and disciplinary action.
  • At least five years of successful experience in a directly related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience with the following controls components is highly prized: Servo Drives, PLC, PC Controllers, DC Power Supplies, optical devices (i.e., encoders, photo eyes, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Track & measure Key Performance Indicators and Fault Data, evaluate & analyze the data, implement & direct improvement.
  • Build reports and communication materials to best report and demonstrate continuous improvement of maintenance and operations of material handling equipment to our customers.
  • Identify predictive maintenance repairs that are required to maintain system availability.
  • Assist the Resident Site Maintenance Manager with all the following responsibilities:
  • Ensure identification and accurate management of spare parts inventories by applying Sprocket CMMS.
  • Ensure the facility is kept clean and safe.
  • Make sure all personnel follow safety rules and practice safe work habits. These rules align with safety policies from Dematic and its Customers.
  • Provide daily, on-site communication with 3PL’s warehouse operators and management personnel.
  • Be responsible for and coordinate building maintenance services, applying third-party service providers where needed.
  • Ensure a process is in place to handle emergency downs (unscheduled vs. scheduled). This shall include procedures to advise Management, resource call-in plans, problem escalation within Dematic’s organization, etc.
  • Maintain an effective, written technical procedure for handling blocking issues and adhere to it.
  • Additionally, train the personnel and ensure compliance with the Dematic escalation protocol.
  • Support expansions, projects, and other changes as the need arises.
