Take 5 Oil Change is a neighborhood go-to oil change spot with over 35 years of experience, known for friendly technicians, oil change expertise, and an efficient process. The Assistant Shop Manager role is an opportunity to showcase leadership skills within a growing team. While experience is valued, it is not required, as many successful employees joined without prior experience, coming from diverse backgrounds such as servers, restaurant workers, mechanics, retail, and landscaping. The company provides paid training on managing a shop, changing oil, replacing wiper blades/air filters, filling tires, and performing other light maintenance services, with opportunities for quick advancement to Shop Manager positions that include salaries and bonuses.

Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds
• Must be able to maneuver in and out of a shallow 3’ deep pit to position yourself safely under cars
• Must be able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, twist, etc. for extended periods of time and perform activities involving holding, grasping, pulling, and turning
• Must be willing to work in hot/cold weather conditions if necessary
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the shop
• Must be willing to learn, work hard, and bring a positive attitude to the shop

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in customer service, restaurant, mechanical, retail, landscaping, or other skilled trades

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and process payment for services performed
• Assume the responsibility and authority of the Shop Manager in the Shop Manager’s absence
• Run the floor (making sure each employee is where they need to be, ensuring everything has been checked on each vehicle, and every customer is satisfied before they leave)
• Perform opening and closing procedures
• Assist with counting and adjusting inventory
• Train new employees to fulfill duties in the Take 5 way
• Drain motor oil, change oil filters, and perform other auto services as necessary
• Restock and maintain inventory levels on the floor
• Maintain shop, office, and bathroom cleanliness
