Assistant Shop Instructor
About The Position
We are seeking an Assistant Shop Instructor to join our team. Starting Salary: $18.00 - $23.00 Shift: Part-time evening and weekend position. The Assistant Shop Instructor role will help youth learn valuable trade skills that can help them find employment and job opportunities in the community. This position and program will work with the rest of the department to train and equip the youth for future employment. It will do this while actively engaging in a real-world business model connected with the learning program bringing in money and resources into the department. This is an assistant position with a strong emphasis on supporting the youth and maintaining good supervision and a safe learning environment. As a member of the Build Trybe team, you will work with other team members and report to our Building Trades Manager.
Requirements
- Our ideal candidate will have 2 years of relevant experience working with children and the following:
- Fabrication basics
- Basic Shop Skills and workplace safety
- Computer basics
- Experience teaching or mentoring youth
- High School Diploma
- At least 21 years of age and pass background check, physical, and drug screening
- A valid driver’s license, proof of current vehicle insurance, reliable transportation, and able to drive.
- Lift 30 lbs regularly; Able to work on their feet for up to 4 hours
Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and safe shop space
- Assist in instructing youth in workplace, shop, and tool safety
- Assist in instructing youth in basic tool use
- Assist in working on commissions, projects, and products for sale in the community
