About The Position

Assistant Shelter Managers are responsible for assisting with the day-to-day activities at Path of Life Ministries (POLM) shelters, ensuring that all program activities occur in a professional and confidential manner.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience in a lead supervisory role.
  • Two years of related experience with homeless and mentally ill populations.
  • Employment eligibility verification.
  • Valid California driver’s license, with an acceptable driving record
  • Reliable personal (not public) transportation available at all times.
  • Successful completion of background screening.
  • Must have or obtain a Riverside County Food Handlers Card
  • Must have or obtain slip-resistant shoes
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the manager with a safe, healthy, professional environment leading to guests’ self-sufficiency.
  • Assist the Manager to monitor all onsite activities (including workshops, group activities, meals, chores, and other regular daily activities
  • Works with the manager to address and quickly resolve on-site emergencies, janitorial, maintenance, and facility concerns or problems.
  • Monitor and ensure facility/grounds beautification.
  • Manage inventory and organization of the food pantry and storage.
  • Assist Shelter Manager with food service functions for POLM Shelters.
  • Work with the manager regarding program concerns, documenting incidents, and grievances.
  • Attends all meetings as required by the Manager.
  • Assist the Manager with all new hire job responsibilities at assigned sites.
  • Assist with monitoring and ensuring proper program enrollment and exit.
  • Assist with passes from program attendance and/or participation.
  • Assist Manager and ensure the availability as well as the effective and efficient distribution of all on-site resources (i.e., job and housing or other resource boards, hygiene products)
  • Assist Manager with inventory to ensure the availability as well as effective and efficient use of all on-site program supplies.
  • Assist the Manager in resolving and/or working with superiors to resolve all guest incidents, compliance concerns, and grievances.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
