About The Position

The Assistant Security Officer (ASO) applies government standards with DST’s Standard Practice and Procedures (SPP) to ensure proper operation of DST’s Security program.

Requirements

  • Completion of the FSO Orientation Curriculum from the CDSE via STEPP.
  • Completion of Cyber Awareness Challenge 2022 and Identifying and Safeguarding Personally Identifiable Information from the CDSE via STEPP.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain/maintain a United States Security Clearance .
  • Must pass a DOT/FAA regulated drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of required Insider Threat training from CDSE via STEPP
  • One to three years of experience working with Microsoft Office applications.
  • One to three years of experience in detail-oriented recordkeeping.

Responsibilities

  • Ongoing Familiarity with the National Industrial Security Operating Manual (NISPOM), Security Executive Agent Directives (SEADs), Industrial Security Letters (ISLs), and applicable Presidential Executive Orders (EO).
  • Ensure complete record keeping and reporting across internal and government systems including the Defense Information System for Security (DISS), National Industrial Security System (NISS) and internal tracking documents for reporting and activities across multiple government agencies.
  • Assist the Security Officer with initial investigations and reinvestigations across all government agencies as per each agency’s guidelines.
  • Provide updates to and execution of DST’s security training programs, including initial indoctrinations, to ensure compliance, timely delivery and accurate recordkeeping.
  • Work with the Insider Threat Program Senior Official (ITPSO) on continuous improvement to DST’s Insider Threat Program (ITP), operation of the ITP, and serve as DST’s Insider Threat Officer (ITO).
  • Operation of the ITP includes reporting, training and recordkeeping for the program.
  • Develop and implement mechanisms for travel training, briefing, and reporting as per SEAD 3 guidelines and requirements.
