About The Position

The Assistant Security Manager supports the daily operations and leadership of the Security Department, ensuring the safety and protection of all guests, team members, and property at Ute Mountain Casino Hotel. This role assists in supervising staff, coordinating shift coverage, conducting incident investigations, and ensuring compliance with gaming, tribal, and public safety regulations. The Assistant Manager provides direct operational support during peak times, assists with scheduling and training, and models a calm, service-oriented approach to guest and team interactions. This position serves as a critical leadership presence, ensuring staff accountability, enforcing procedures, and promoting a safe, respectful environment across the enterprise.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age and able to obtain and maintain a Ute Mountain Ute Gaming Commission Support License (background checks may be required).
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under company policy.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, reliability, accountability, and attention to detail
  • Must demonstrate a strong work ethic, sound judgment, and a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or team lead experience in casino security, law enforcement, or a related protective services field required.
  • Strong working knowledge of security procedures, emergency protocols, and report documentation.
  • Proven ability to lead by example and remain calm under pressure.
  • Skilled in verbal de-escalation, conflict resolution, and guest service.
  • Ability to train others and provide constructive coaching in the moment.
  • Proficiency in using communication equipment, security systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to learn new systems and technologies as required to ensure the continued progress of the department.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional coursework or certification in criminal justice, security management, or emergency response preferred.
  • Tribal enterprise or regulated industry experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Guest Staff Supervision and Support Assist in supervising security ambassadors on shift, ensuring duties are completed thoroughly and in alignment with departmental standards. Provide direction, corrective coaching, and logistical support to team members throughout the day.
  • Emergency and Incident Response Respond to security, medical, or behavioral incidents in real time. Coordinate response activities, assist first responders, document details thoroughly, and escalate matters appropriately to the Security Manager or Executive Leadership.
  • Training, Coaching, Discipling, and Performance Monitoring Support onboarding and ongoing training for ambassadors, focusing on customer service, de-escalation, emergency protocols, and regulatory compliance. Monitor team member performance, identify areas for improvement, and report concerns to management. Assist with counseling and disciplinary actions as identified or assigned.
  • Patrol and Safety Oversight Conduct property patrols to ensure security presence is visible and consistent. Check for hazards, access violations, or suspicious activity, and take appropriate action to correct or report issues.
  • Guest Service and Conflict Resolution Model calm, respectful, and effective communication when addressing guest concerns or enforcing rules. Prioritize de-escalation, fairness, and professionalism in every interaction.
  • Administrative Duties Assist with shift scheduling, documentation, and supply inventory as needed. Prepare incident reports, review ambassador logs, and ensure completion of required reports for internal and regulatory use.
  • Regulatory and Policy Compliance Ensure all actions taken by the security team adhere to casino policies, internal controls, and applicable tribal, state, and federal laws. Report any violations or irregularities to the Security Manager and the Director – Security & Surveillance.
