Washington College, an NCAA Division III member of the Centennial Conference, is accepting applications for a full-time Assistant Sailing Coach. The individual hired will be responsible for assisting with all phases of the Washington College Sailing program, within the college, the Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (MAISA) conference, and Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) rules and regulations with an emphasis on recruiting and retaining highly qualified prospective student-athletes. Assist the Head Sailing Coach with program operations and maintenance, athletic instruction/coaching, team practices, conditioning, and recruiting. Conduct player evaluations at the beginning of the season and coach players of all skill levels. Foster team building and positive team morale. Mentor students and monitor student-athlete academic progress and well-being through advising and referrals and help resolve academic and non-academic issues. Assist with recruiting and scouting activities; develop and maintain rapport with prospective student-athletes. Works with athletic communication and compliance staff regarding media relations for the Sailing program. Works with training staff to ensure that all athletes are medically cleared to participate. Works with athletic department office to ensure that all athletes meet NCAA eligibility requirements. Exercise unbiased and independent judgment regarding the recruitment of prospective student-athletes. Maintain compliance with all rules of relevant governing bodies including NCAA, ICSA, MAISA conference, WC Athletics Department, and Washington College policies.
