About The Position

The Assistant Retail Manager supports the overall daily operations of the retail store by ensuring exceptional guest experience, maintaining strong merchandising standards, and assisting with inventory and retail systems management. This role works closely with the Retail Director to drive sales, maintain operational efficiency, and uphold brand standards.

Requirements

Previous retail experience required; supervisory experience preferred

Organizational skills: Efficiently managing multiple inventory storage areas while maintaining a neat, clean, and organized workplace
Computer proficiency: Working knowledge of Retail Pro Software Solutions, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Customer service focus: Prioritizing guest satisfaction and addressing concerns promptly. Support a positive workplace culture that shows up in our daily guest interactions.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Valid driver’s license that has been in effect for at least three years, with no major violations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time frequently; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee will walk and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to lift 5-25 pounds regularly and over 25 with assistance, as needed, as part of the daily responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

Experience in apparel, gift, or beach/outdoor retail preferred
A minimum of 2-4 years’ buying/merchandising experience preferred with direct leadership responsibilities

Responsibilities

Deliver outstanding customer service and create a welcoming shopping environment
Assist guests with product selection, inquiries, and issue resolution
Support sales goals by promoting products and upselling when appropriate
Handle customer concerns professionally and escalate when necessary
Execute merchandising plans to ensure the store is visually appealing and organized
Maintain product displays according to company standards
Assist in floor moves, seasonal resets, and promotional setups
Monitor stock levels on the sales floor and replenish as needed
Assist with inventory control processes, including receiving, counting, and restocking
Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts
Help minimize shrinkage and ensure accurate inventory records
Coordinate with management on stock needs and reorder planning
Operate retail management systems, including entering new merchandise and updating product information
Ensure accurate pricing, SKU setup, and inventory tracking in the system
Support point-of-sale (POS) operations and troubleshoot basic system issues
Maintain organized and accurate back-of-house operations
Assist in preparing sales, inventory, and performance reports
Track key metrics and provide insights to support decision-making
Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping
Communicate regularly with the Retail Director regarding store performance and operational updates
Support training and onboarding of retail staff
Provide guidance and leadership during shifts in the absence of the Retail Director
Help maintain a positive, productive team environment
