About The Position

The Assistant Resident Engineer will manage the firm's day-to-day construction oversight efforts and perform daily inspection of construction activities; this will include preparing daily inspector reports in accordance with clients' requirements. As a leader, you will be expected to lead meetings and prepare meeting agendas and minutes. You will also serve as liaison to design staff to respond to Contractors' RFIs and review of shop drawings and be a primary point of contact for client comments, questions and concerns. Key attributes include: Demonstrated commitment to providing a safe and healthful workplace, strong communication skills, both written and oral, ability to manage personnel and remain responsive to client requirements, effective research, data gathering and analysis skills, proven ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously, a logical approach and ability to think through complex issues to coordinate multi-faceted aspects of projects, effective time management skills, and self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently.

Requirements

  • 5 years prior experience as an Assistant Resident Engineer for NYC projects
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction or a related field of study
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • 10 years' experience with at least 5 years of Assistant Resident Engineering, inspector, or office engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer - New York (active)
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing a safe and healthful workplace
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to manage personnel and remain responsive to client requirements
  • Effective research, data gathering and analysis skills
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • A logical approach and ability to think through complex issues to coordinate multi-faceted aspects of projects
  • Effective time management skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently
