About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) with 10 years of experience, to join our Water Division as part of our construction management team on the SFPUC Biosolids Project in San Francisco, CA. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. As an Assistant Resident Engineer, you will utilize your experience and technical knowledge of municipal infrastructure, water and wastewater facilities and general building projects to successfully execute and manage construction under the supervision of the Construction Manager and Resident Engineer. Role accountabilities: As an Assistant Resident Engineer, you will work with other CM Team members to manage the firm’s day-to-day extension of staff services for construction on this $2.4B Project. You will assist the Resident Engineer (RE) in managing change order review and response, preparation for Testing/Start-Up/Commissioning/Acceptance of all facility equipment and systems and coordination with other projects within the Southeast Plant. The ARE will also prepare general correspondence, required reports and deliverables, coordinate inspection staff, act as liaison to the design team, provide technical reviews of construction plans and specifications and project changes for merit, monitor Contractor performance, schedule, overall responsiveness and effectiveness, and attend meetings with client managers. The ARE will work with Contractor staff to maintain project goals regarding cost, schedule, quality, etc.; support the review, preparation and processing of Contractor payment; and assist the RE in leading meetings, and other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Prior experience as an Assistant Resident Engineer on water/wastewater projects.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing a safe and healthful workplace.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • 10 years’ experience with at least 5 years of Assistant Resident Engineering
  • Engineer in Training is preferred
  • Professional Engineer – California (active) is highly preferred
  • CCM is highly preferred
  • Active participation in regional or national professional associations.
  • Interest and ability to network, support proposals and contribute to the firm’s growth in the NorCal construction market.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
