About The Position

As an Assistant Resident Engineer you will manage the firm's day-to-day construction oversight/Asst. Resident Engineering efforts on a major NYCDEP infrastructure upgrade contract. The Assistant Resident Engineer will be expected to assist the Construction Manager (CM) and/or Resident Engineer (RE) in managing the inspection staff and the delivery of daily inspector reports in accordance with clients' requirements. You will be expected to act as liaison to design staff and respond to Contractors' RFI's and review shop drawings. The Assistant Resident Engineer will be responsible for record keeping, general correspondence, compiling and drafting of required reports and deliverables; this includes technical review of construction plans and specifications and project changes for constructability and practicality. Assist the RE in leading meetings and preparing meeting agendas and minutes. Part of this role is strong communication to effectively lead progress, project, safety, scheduling and other contract administration meetings with client, local agencies and the community. Prior experience as an Office Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer for NYC projects.

Requirements

  • Prior experience as an Office Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer for NYC projects.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing a safe and healthful workplace.
  • 10 years' experience with at least 5 years of Assistant Resident Engineering or office engineering experience for NYCDEP or NYCDDC.
  • Professional Engineer - New York (active)
