Role description: Arcadis is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer, with 5-10 years of experience, to join our Water Division as part of our construction management team on a Wastewater Resource Recovery Facility in Staten Island, NY. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. As an Assistant Resident Engineer, you will utilize your experience and technical knowledge of municipal infrastructure, construction management, and general building projects to successfully execute and manage construction. Role accountabilities: Contractor Oversight You will oversee contractor performance to ensure maintaining timeline, responsiveness and effectiveness along with exerting influence over project goals, costs and other pertinent items. Part of this responsibility support the review, preparation, negotiation, and processing of Contractor payments and change orders; this will also include managing subcontractors for special inspections, commissioning, and asbestos project monitoring. Construction Documentation Maintaining proper field office services will be a key part of this role, including record keeping, general correspondence, compiling and drafting required reports and deliverables. You will provide technical review of construction plans and specifications and project changes for constructability and practicality. In this role you will also be part of the closeout of the construction contract including preparing of all closeout documents, compiling and drafting of required reports and deliverables Leadership The Assistant Resident Engineer will manage the firm’s day-to-day construction oversight efforts and perform daily inspection of construction activities; this will include preparing daily inspector reports in accordance with clients’ requirements. As a leader, you will be expected to lead meetings and prepare meeting agendas and minutes. You will also serve as liaison to design staff to respond to Contractors’ RFIs and review of shop drawings and be a primary point of contact for client comments, questions and concerns.
