Urban Engineers is seeking qualified individuals to join our Facilities CM Department as an Assistant Resident Engineer in Queens, NY. This full-time position will support upcoming projects at the John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). The Assistant Resident Engineer will play a crucial role in managing and supervising an assigned field office, which typically consists of inspectors, cost and schedule professionals, and office engineers. This position requires a proactive approach to ensure that all aspects of the construction projects are executed efficiently and safely. The Assistant Resident Engineer will conduct reviews and verifications of construction schedules, including baseline and updates, in coordination with the client. This role involves scheduling inspections, observing field testing, and overseeing commissioning activities. Additionally, the Assistant Resident Engineer will assist in the preparation and negotiations of construction change orders and the preparation of weekly and monthly project reports. A key responsibility will be to review payment vouchers from contractors and maintain accurate records of manning reports, payroll certifications, and other labor documentation. In this position, the Assistant Resident Engineer will chair project progress meetings, distribute meeting minutes, and ensure site safety and permit compliance. Coordination with adjacent projects is essential to minimize disruptions to the public. The Assistant Resident Engineer will also monitor contractor compliance with safety and health plans, as well as quality plans, ensuring that all work adheres to established standards. Upon project completion, the Assistant Resident Engineer will prepare punch lists in collaboration with the owner, ensuring that all aspects of the project meet the required specifications.
