As an Assistant Residence Manager, you will have a key role in supporting our residential team and assisting individuals in achieving their goals and independence.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: Experience in a supervisory or direct care role, ideally working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Licensing/Certifications: Must maintain AMAP Certification for administering medication, and be able to pass all required training (CPR, SCIP, etc.).
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of OPWDD regulations, abuse and neglect policies, and agency procedures.
  • Valid NY State Driver’s License (6 points or less) and the ability to drive a 15-passenger van.
  • Vaccination: Must be fully vaccinated (COVID-19).
  • Other: Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to meet the operational needs of the residence.

Responsibilities

  • Residence Supervision: Assume responsibility for the residence in the absence of the Residence Manager, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Staff Supervision & Training: Assist in orienting, supervising, and evaluating Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), ensuring they follow proper procedures.
  • Incident Reporting: Follow appropriate 624 procedures for reporting incidents and ensure proper documentation.
  • Staff Scheduling & Payroll: Schedule staff coverage, verify time worked, and review time sheets and overtime records.
  • Support & Transportation: Accompany individuals on appointments and activities, helping teach daily living skills and assisting DSPs in doing the same.
  • Facility Maintenance: Assist with the upkeep of the residence and ensure the proper functioning of the physical plant, furnishings, and appliances.
  • Medication Administration: Administer and verify the distribution of medication, maintaining accurate medication records (AMAP ledgers).
  • Documentation & Reporting: Ensure proper documentation of activities, incidents, and other required reports, including daily logs, activity sheets, and trip evaluations.
  • Emergency Procedures & Safety: Conduct fire drills and emergency evacuation procedures, ensuring that both staff and individuals are prepared for emergencies.
  • Training & Development: Attend staff meetings, in-service training, and required certification programs.
  • Cleanliness & Upkeep: Ensure the residence and grounds are kept clean and well-maintained.
  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside clinical support staff (nurses, therapists, psychologists) to provide individualized care and support.
