About The Position

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years’ experience working with the developmentally disabled, or Associates degree with 1 year of experience. Experience may be waived if candidate possess’ bachelor degree or higher in related area.  Strong communication and follow-up skills.  Ability to handle multiple priorities and work with limited supervision. Possession of a clean, valid New York State Driver’s License. Must be able to work a flexible schedule as directed by the Residence Manager/designee. Current certifications: First Aid, SCIP, CPR, Van, Medication Administration and all house specific (i.e. tube) if required, must be obtained within six months. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise the staff and daily operations of the residence in the absence of the Residence Manager. Provide hands-on training of staff in delivery of all services. Plan, schedule and assign direct reports work activities. Ensure staffing schedule is completed per program requirements. Provides coverage for shifts as needed to ensure staffing needs are met. Provides on call availability and emergency assistance as needed in the absence of the Residence Manager Plan and organize and implement appropriate recreational opportunities for individuals in the program. Monitor, inventory and make arrangements to procure consumer need items, such as clothing, personal belongings, haircuts, room décor, bedding, etc. Responsible for maintaining adequate food, housekeeping and program supplies. Complete all responsibilities as outlined in the Direct Support Professional job description. Participate in the development of their consumers’ treatment planning in conjunction with the Interdisciplinary/Treatment Team. Participate with the Residence Manager in the on-going development and organization of the house. Maintain all necessary records in compliance with all Federal, State and Local regulations and Agency policies and procedures.  Assist the Residence Manager in maintaining house budgets Assist in evaluating assigned personnel and submit reports of appraisal as required. Provides on-call availability to the program for emergency situations and guidance as needed in the absence of the House Manager. Assist with transportation to and from work, day program and medical appointments as required/needed.  Monitor daily and on-going maintenance issues for the house report any issues to the appropriate personnel. Responsible for the safety of staff and the persons served under his/her supervision. Adhere to a person centered philosophy.  Participate as needed/directed in Council for Quality Leadership implementation throughout the agency.  Perform any other related duties as directed by the Residence Manager and/or designee
