Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Research Scientist - Rodent Genetic Engineering Laboratory. The Rodent Genome Engineering Lab (RGEL) at NYU Langone Health is seeking an Assistant Research Scientist to expand its transgenic model services. This onsite role focuses on generating complex genomically engineered mouse models in close collaboration with Dr. Jef Boeke at the Institute for Systems Genetics (NYULH). The Assistant Research Scientist will report to RGEL's Associate Director. Key responsibilities include executing research projects to produce genomically engineered mice using mouse embryonic stem cell (mESC) chimeric blastocyst microinjection and embryo transfer. The role involves mESC culture, blastocyst injection, rederivation, cryopreservation, in vitro fertilization, and sperm cryopreservation. The scientist will also maintain breeding colonies and detailed records. The ideal candidate will perform both routine and advanced laboratory techniques, contribute to method development, and uphold high-quality standards in transgenic support services. The position requires independent planning and execution of experiments, animal model management, and timely completion of assigned projects. RGEL operates as a fee-for-service core facility, providing innovative resources to biomedical researchers. The Assistant Research Scientist will work within this collaborative core environment, supporting its mission and partnering with principal investigators who utilize the labs services.
