The Assistant Research Scientist I position is a full-time role within the Analytical Chemistry department located in Stilwell, KS. This position is classified as exempt and reports directly to the Research Scientist - Team Lead or Analytical Manager. The primary mission of this role is to contribute to competitive, independent investigative research and product development in various areas including crop production, crop protection, food quality, environmental preservation, product stewardship, genetics, and seeds. The work schedule is determined based on business needs and may include weekends and holidays as required. In this role, the Assistant Research Scientist I will perform basic laboratory tasks with minimal supervision, adhering to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Responsibilities include sample documentation, labeling, preparation, homogenization, extraction, and cleaning of glassware and equipment. The individual will also provide technical support for sample handling and processing, maintain cleanliness in the lab, and assist in the preparation of reports with minimal complexity, subject to supervisory review. The position requires maintaining accurate data files, completing daily logs, and operating standard lab equipment such as homogenizers, centrifuges, pipettes, balances, and pH meters. The Assistant Research Scientist may also prepare chemical standards and ready samples for extraction and analysis. The role emphasizes a commitment to safety, integrity, and collaboration, with a focus on continuous learning and adaptability in a high-paced, regulated environment.
