About The Position

The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science Horn Point Laboratory (HPL) is seeking a post-doctoral Assistant Research Scientist to develop and apply numerical models to explore design of nature based solution projects including living shorelines and oyster reef restoration. The design research in the project team is led by Dr. William Nardin. This position does require fieldwork.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D in Environmental Science/Engineering or related field is required.
  • Demonstrated skills in numerical modeling and data analysis are also required.
  • Position requires fieldwork.
  • To include, but not limited to, capable of lifting 50 pounds, walk long distances, and work in hot and humid conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with interdisciplinary research such as coupled hydrodynamic-morphodynamic models are preferred.
  • The successful candidate is expected to have excellent verbal and written communications skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work with an interdisciplinary team of scientists and stakeholders.
