About The Position

The Division of Medical Oncology is seeking to fill a full-time faculty Assistant Research Professor position for a PhD in Clinical & Health Psychology (or equivalent) to conduct behavioral cancer research with cancer survivors through the Division of Medical Oncology, Department of Medicine and within the University of Colorado Cancer Center. Primary work location is in Aurora, Colorado at the Anschutz Medical Campus (AMC). The Assistant Research Professor will be an active participant in research regarding behavioral oncology, working closely with the Cancer Prevention and Control Program of the University of Colorado Cancer Center consortium, as well as other psychologists, behavioral researchers, and clinician-scientists at AMC. Requirements

  • PhD in Clinical & Health Psychology, or related fields; and eligibility for appointment as Assistant Professor.
  • Demonstrated track record of funding and scholarship in behavioral oncology and/or cancer prevention and control.
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring graduate students.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic fast paced, interdisciplinary academic research environment.

  • Experience conducting cancer survivorship research.
  • A track record of success producing high-quality and high-impact scholarship, including publications and peer-reviewed grants.
  • Demonstrated capacity for establishing and maintaining collaborations within and across institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Developing community and behavioral science projects related to cancer prevention and control efforts, in partnership with other investigators in the Division of Medical Oncology as well as consortia members such as CSU and/or CU Boulder.
  • Establishing a track-record of cancer-focused scientific productivity including, success in securing external funding, publishing manuscripts, and collaborating both internally and externally.
  • Collaborating with teams of researchers and providers, as appropriate, to conduct behavioral oncology research and to translate findings to cancer prevention and control.
  • Participating and engaging in the Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) Research program seminars, meetings, and retreats and broader UCCC meetings as relevant.
  • Providing training and supervision for undergraduate and graduate students as well as postdoctoral fellows and staff members.
  • Participating in Divisional/Cancer Center “citizenship” activities such as the Scientific Review Committees, the IRB, and the Cancer Center Lecture Series and the Departmental Lecture Series.
