About The Position

The Assistant Receiving Manager plays a key role in the material handling of all inbound material. This includes material transfers between storage facilities, as well as material picking for Plant Operations. The Assistant Receiving manager ensures the appropriate execution of department SOPs and ensures timely processing of inventory transactions in the ERP system. The Assistant Receiving Manager oversees the department staff, communicates with Plant Operations, Shipping, and Supply Chain on a regular basis, both verbally and in writing. Professional, timely, and effective communication is essential in this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
  • 5+ years of experience in receiving and warehouse operations
  • 2+ years of management experience in a diverse environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience working with an ERP system to track inventory
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees and management
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Hands-on commitment to getting the job done in a safe manner
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Receiving team by selecting, orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, and counseling employees; communicate job expectations and ensure effective performance management
  • Ensure the accurate and timely systematic movement of inventory to prevent inventory discrepancies and being the point of contact for Plant Operations for supply needs, substitutions, and equipment
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Finance, Key Accounts Specialists, and other teams to ensure all supply orders are successfully delivered, tracked in the ERP system, verify that the quantity of received goods matches the purchase order, and report and investigate discrepancies to drive corrective actions
  • Oversee critical inbound needs and plan warehouse spacing needs for upcoming inbound deliveries
  • Ensure operational consistency across shifts by standardizing procedures and maintaining clear communication channels
  • Oversee live goods receiving and report variances immediately to report claims for infestations, diseases, and proper specifications
  • Plan and schedule transfers to and from offsite storage and quarterly movement of out of season inventory
  • Oversee audits for proper inventory movement, labels, quantities, and quality
  • Maintain storage area by organizing floor space, adhering to storage design principles, maintaining storage space, and recommending improvements to product flow
  • Maintain and promote safety activities to provide a safe working environment
  • All other duties as assigned
