About The Position

An Assistant Manager Quality, under general supervision, supports the development of quality systems and controls for internal manufacturing processes. Develops and improves supplier processes. Acts as a customer representative and customer support contact. Supports the Quality Labs in day-to-day engineering support activities for solving manufacturing problems.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in systems such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA’s and QS9000/TS16949 requirements. Automotive background is required.
  • Must possess expert knowledge of SPC and MSA
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a four year college or university in a related field; and generally 8+ years of related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, vendors, and the general public.
  • Ability to understand and apply basic geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
  • Ability to apply advanced statistical techniques such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Understand design prints.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be able to lead and function in a team environment by working with, and cooperating with others.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills, and be able to clearly communicate in both written and oral forms with others.
  • Must be familiar with DOE and fluent in methodical problem solving processes, as well as the 7 tools of quality.
  • Must have the ability to apply these tools to be able to solve complex manufacturing problems.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to lead activity is required.

Responsibilities

  • Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
  • Lead activity in establishing programs to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.
  • Lead Activity in the development and implementation of methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material, and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.
  • Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality & reliability.
  • Compiles and writes training material, and conducts training sessions on quality control activities.
  • Should be pro-actively involved in identifying and leading the improvement process, and promote its use within the facility.
  • Actively identify and promote continuous improvement and 5S activities.
