Organize required training in all departments to increase safety awareness and adherence. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management. Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for staff. Coaches and develops indirect and subordinate staff. Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly objectives for purchasing department are met. Regularly reviews of the company’s product offerings and adjusts to meet market, customer, or seasonal variations. Monitor purchasing activities and results and takes timely/corrective action as required. Maintain overall health and accountability for the company’s inventory levels. Monitors all stock outages, dead and slow-moving inventory and develops economic plans for their disposition with the purchasing manager. Monitor the day-to-day operations of the department to focus on operational success as identified by departmental goals. Approve sales contracts on an item-by-item basis as needed. Analyze margin reports to ensure product pricing integrity and budgeted targets are being met. Work with Sales and Purchasing Leadership to determine course of action and implement changes where needed. Monitors bracket pricing, margins, and inventory turn levels to support company goals. Review daily reports including the purchasing dashboard, expiration and low stock reports. Coach team members on executing solutions proactively to avoid out-of-stock or supply issues. Work with Purchasing manager to achieve departmental goals. Work with the Purchasing Manager on vendor negotiations, programs, promotions, point of sale, sales meetings. Plan, develop and execute weekly sales flyers. Monitor credits and returns that involve product integrity, quality, or special-order credit. Attend trade shows as needed, which may require overnight travel.

Requirements

  • 6+ Years Purchasing experience in a Food Service or relevant environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Industry Aware – Continues to develop up to date Foodservice information.
  • Self-Disciplined – Maintains a systematic approach to duties and responsibilities.
  • Committed to continuous learning and development of skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain or related field
  • Foodservice distribution experience
  • Previous managerial supervisory experience
