About The Position

The Assistant Property Manager at ShelterCare is responsible for overseeing HUD public housing properties, ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines and laws, and providing support to residents, particularly those with a history of homelessness and mental illness. This role emphasizes a trauma-informed approach to management and services, requiring effective communication and collaboration skills.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience in a similar role is preferred but not required.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong scheduling and time management abilities.
  • Leadership and risk management skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficient in using technology for email, spreadsheets, and documents.
  • Ability to handle confidential material and maintain document security.
  • Must be eligible to drive ShelterCare vehicles.
  • Must pass an Oregon criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in property management or social services.
  • Familiarity with HUD guidelines and Fair Housing laws.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the rental application process.
  • Ensure compliance with HUD guidelines and Fair Housing laws.
  • Adhere to Housing First principles and ShelterCare policies and procedures.
  • Track information and documents in Property Management software for Masterleases and other assigned properties.
  • Respond to community and participant complaints and grievances.
  • Issue notices for lease violations.
  • Supervise and perform unit entries and inspections.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs.
