About The Position

The Assistant/Business Manager's primary role is to support the Community Manager in enhancing the community efficiently and profitably, aligning with owner/investor goals, and ensuring high customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities also include resolving resident issues, managing accounts receivable and payable, and maintaining accurate records in Yardi.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1-3 years multi-family property management experience
  • Strong marketing and sales background
  • Accounting system functions
  • Proficiency with property management software (Yardi, RealPage, MRI, AppFolio)
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Professional Image
  • Ability to successfully interact with people
  • Strong communication skills both orally and written
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to walk the property and climb stairs

Nice To Haves

  • Two or four year college degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget
  • Collect all rents and other incomes while controlling property expenses within the guidelines of the budget
  • Ensure all bank deposits are made in accordance with Company policy and procedures
  • Process all invoices on a weekly basis and submit to the Accounting Department in a timely manner and with all required paperwork (after approval of the Community Manager)
  • All on-site accounting functions
  • Collect and process all payroll for the community
  • Provide superior customer service
  • Resolve resident concerns
  • Management of the community in the absence of the Community Manager
  • Adherence to and proper implementation of all Fortis Properties Management policies and procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of the computer system
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Fair Housing policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Life/Safety issues
  • Knowledge of and adherence to ADA, OSHA, EPA policies and procedures
  • Coordinate with the Community Manager to supervise all on-site Associates and all outside contractors employed by Fortis Property Management to work at their community
  • Other duties as delegated
