About The Position

The Biomolecular Engineering Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an Assistant Project Scientist who will work under the supervision and guidance of Dr. Ali Shariati to contribute to the overall progress of various research projects in the Shariati Lab. The selected candidate will analyze experimental data, help with maintenance of the lab, attend group meetings, present in group meetings, write manuscripts, write grants and mentor junior researchers. Duties include maintaining clear documentation of experiments according to NIH guidelines and readiness to share raw experimental data if needed. The candidate must add to professional and clear communications with all the lab members. The candidate will be responsible for experimental procedures that include but are not limited to growing embryonic stem cells, microscopy, mouse embryo manipulations, organoid formation, genome and epigenome editing, molecular biology, sequencing and computational analysis of biological data. Applicants with experience in developmental biology in the areas of embryonic development or stem-cell biology are strongly encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. (or equivalent foreign degree) in biology, developmental biology, or a related field of study in life sciences
  • Demonstrated experience with embryonic stem cell culture
