About The Position

Join a leading company in historic restorations, known for excellence beyond commercial construction. This role, typically considered a project engineer elsewhere, offers a unique opportunity for rapid promotion to Project Manager, allowing you to independently manage projects.

Requirements

  • 0 - 2 years of experience in Commercial Construction.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a construction-related field such as Construction Management, Construction Engineering & Management, or Building Construction Management.
  • Internship experience with a Commercial General Contractor.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree from Purdue, Ball State, or Indiana State University is preferred.
  • Coursework or internship experience related to construction scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and learn from the Project Manager on all tasks outlined in the PM job description.
  • Develop skills to manage projects independently and transition into a Project Manager role.
  • Assist in estimating and preparing bids.
  • Oversee project startup, administration, safety, labor, equipment/material, quality, and cost control.
  • Work with the Superintendent to ensure timely project completion.
  • Represent the company professionally, ensuring respectful interactions with all stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and document all project activities.
  • Assist the Vice President of Operations in policy monitoring and enforcement.
  • Contribute to project debriefing conferences with owners and design teams post-completion.
  • Study project plans and specifications thoroughly.
  • Create detailed submittal logs and develop project schedules.
  • Organize and lead preconstruction meetings.
  • Ensure all permits are acquired before construction begins.
  • Negotiate and draft subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Manage project administration, including submittal processes and RFI reviews.
  • Conduct safety inspections and issue safety warnings as necessary.
  • Monitor labor budgets and man-hours for activities.
  • Ensure quality control by reviewing plans and specifications.
  • Maintain cost control by reviewing timecards, invoices, and generating pay applications.
  • Coordinate project closeout activities, ensuring regulatory compliance and completion of punch list items.
