About The Position

Rohadfox Construction Management is searching for an experienced Assistant Project Manager on a multi-year airport design-build construction project for our client located in West Los Angeles, CA. The FS51 Assistant Project Manager reports to the Replacement Fire Station 51 Project Manager and is responsible for assisting the Project Manager with managing the scope, schedule, budget and GMP development. The FS51 Assistant Project Manager will also support the Design Manager in interfacing with key stakeholders and Authorities having Jurisdiction on all design and construction-related activities for the project. The FS51 project is a progressive design-build project that will require quick decision-making and continuous collaboration between Client and the Design-Build Team. The characteristics of the candidate shall display a solid understanding and experience of Progressive Design Build project delivery, and the ability to develop and establish lasting communication with all stakeholders including LAFD, Client's facility and technology groups, Client's operations, and interfacing projects. The candidate shall be familiar with working under pressure and coordinating within an active operating environment (aviation, transportation, public facilities, etc.). The ability to lead a collaboration of stakeholders, designers and contractors will be critical to the project’s success. The FS51 Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting the Project Manager with managing the scope, cost, schedule and operational interfaces of all design and construction related activities for the LAX Replacement Fire Station 51 project. The FS51 Assistant Project Manager will be focused on schedule certainty, budget delivery and making sure that design and construction work meets the required quality standards while enforcing a strong health, safety, and environmental culture on the project. The FS51 Assistant Project Manager will assist the project team with the development and implementation of design, construction, testing, commissioning, turnover plans, impacts to the operations, and support the team’s risk management and mitigation activities. This position is M-F 8AM-5Pm unless otherwise requested. The salary range is $164,392-$171,392.

Requirements

  • Understanding and Experience in Design Build and Progressive Design Build Delivery
  • Project Manager and Technical/Construction Leader with experience in an operating/active environment
  • Management of project within budget and schedule constraints while maintaining all necessary scope elements
  • Leader in stakeholder engagement to identity, communicate, resolution and accomplishment their needs, while preserving the principles and criteria of the project scope, schedule and budget constraints
  • Knowledge in design and construction contracting practices and methodologies
  • Knowledge and experience in the project design life cycle from Concept to Project Definition Book to Permit to Bulletins
  • Knowledge and experience in the project construction life cycle from Pre-Construction to estimating/buyout to phasing to implementation to Closeout
  • Ability to assemble KPI’s and decisions needed for Governance and presentation to others, including the executive staff
  • Maintaining an excellent working relationship with the design and construction professionals geared towards open communications and mutual problem solving in the best interest of the project and all other parties involved
  • Developing and maintaining a high level of team morale through professionalism that reflects well on the project team, external stakeholders and Client's/internal stakeholders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
  • Proficient in Project Management / Project Controls software
  • 10 years or more experience
  • Experience with projects more than $40 million in value.
  • Experience with Design-Build Delivery and specifically Progressive Design-Build
  • Proven ability to perform in a management capacity
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Planning or other related technical field required
  • Consultant MUST have a company-provided laptop computer
  • Cell phone provided by consultant is required

Nice To Haves

  • Optional certifications may include AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, AICP, etc. or any other relevant professional license or certifications.
  • DBIA certification strongly preferred
