About The Position

The Assistant Project Manager at Peterson Consulting will play a crucial role in supporting project management activities for a leading Heavy Civil Contractor. This position is designed for individuals with significant experience in project engineering, particularly in a self-perform environment, and offers a pathway to advance to a Project Manager role. The successful candidate will manage a team, oversee project quality and safety, and ensure effective communication among stakeholders.

Requirements

• 5+ years of expertise in heavy civil construction.
• 5+ years of experience as a Project Engineer.
• Experience in self-performed excavation, yard piping, structural concrete, processing piping, and inside mechanical construction.
• Proficiency in construction management software, particularly ProCore.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support a team consisting of Project Manager, Sr. Project Engineers, Superintendents, and other field staff.
• Build relationships and communicate with owners, design partners, subcontractors, and workforce.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, and schedules, and process RFIs.
• Monitor the quality control, safety, and environmental programs.
• Understand and assist with project layout.
• Identify critical work items and procure long-lead items.
• Assist with monthly billings, cash flow projections, and process change orders.
