About The Position

The Assistant Program Director supports the daily operations, planning, and scheduling of the Cornerstone Evening & Weekend Program. This role is essential in fostering a community center environment that is inclusive, welcoming, and responsive to the needs of children, youth, and families. The Coordinator ensures a continuum of services and youth development opportunities by overseeing program delivery, supervising staff and interns, and contributing to the overall development and growth of the program.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the coordination and day-to-day management of evening, Saturday, and Sunday Cornerstone programming.
  • Create and maintain monthly and weekly schedules for evening and weekend participants.
  • Assist in the coordination, collection, and summarization of program data and statistical information in compliance with DYCD and DOH requirements.
  • Monitor and inventory program equipment and supplies; ensure repairs are requested and adequate supplies are maintained.
  • Ensure smooth program operations within the building, including addressing maintenance, safety, and security concerns during program hours.
  • Attend agency-wide meetings, trainings, and required professional development sessions.
  • Perform additional administrative and programmatic duties as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Coordinate recruitment, outreach, and engagement of high school youth and adult Cornerstone participants.
  • Facilitate and manage Youth Council and advisory board meetings to promote youth voice and leadership development.
  • Create, implement, and support age-appropriate youth and adult activities aligned with Cornerstone program goals.
  • Assist in the facilitation of program activities, workshops, and special events for youth, adults, and families.
  • Provide on-site crisis intervention and de-escalation support when the program is in operation.
  • Attend and represent the program at community tenant association and board meetings to strengthen community partnerships.
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and safe community center environment for all participants.
  • Supervise evening and weekend staff, including group leaders, activity specialists, part-time program aides, and interns.
  • Support staff through coaching, guidance, and on-site supervision to ensure high-quality program delivery.
  • Assist in facilitating ongoing staff meetings and trainings to promote professional growth and program alignment.
  • In consultation with the Program Director, participate in the hiring and onboarding of program staff.
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage for evening and weekend programming.
  • Assist with oversight and compliance related to DYCD, DOH, and NYCHA partnerships and program requirements.
