Description KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in directing the strategic planning, development, and implementation of programs. Represents the organization at meetings, conferences and other events. May develop and present speeches or presentations to generate or enhance awareness of program(s). Provides technical support by evaluating established processes, conducting training, attending operational meetings and networking with affiliated groups. Monitors progress toward achieving established objectives and deadlines. Participates in planning, administering and monitoring program related budgets. Conducts research, designs new initiatives, and collaborates with others to ensure program(s) remain viable. May serve on, hold office in, or chair committees. May write publishable articles and papers. May supervise staff. Oversees or assists in developing operational and statistical reports for management and regulatory agencies. ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: The Office for Undergraduate Education (OUE) is seeking to hire an Assistant Director of Academic Advising. The OUE promotes the academic development of Emory College of Arts and Sciences students from orientation to graduation while also supporting departments and faculty. Academic Advising provides support for students to achieve their academic goals. The Assistant Program Director will work directly with students in addition to maintaining programmatic responsibilities. The Assistant Program Director will: Assist in planning departmental goals and objectives as part of the Academic Advising leadership team Oversee outreach efforts and manage programming for defined student populations Maintain a proactive advising caseload, including routine and urgent student cases, and document all advising sessions Oversee planning of content for pre-registration advising for new students Assist in planning regular retreats for OUE Academic Advising Become familiar with services in OUE and across campus to make appropriate referrals to offices and resources on campus Work in collaboration with other campus partners (e.g. New Student Programs, Pathways Center, academic departments, etc.) Teach ECS 101 course for new students to help with their transition to Emory Lead advising programs, workshops, and presentations Supervise academic advisors NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location.
