About The Position

The Assistant Professor is a faculty member credentialed and privileged as an MD, with completion of an Ob/Gyn Residency, and may have independent surgical experience necessary to provide a full-scope practice. The Assistant Professor is a member of the OHSU Professional Staff practicing in accordance with the respective bylaws. The Assistant Professor shall provide inpatient and outpatient clinical services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. The Assistant Professor is expected to comply with all laws, regulations, OHSU policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice.

Requirements

  • MD degree
  • Oregon licensure, and completion of an Obstetrics and Gynecology residency.
  • Applicants must have the potential for academic accomplishment
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Responsibilities

  • Provide an outstanding level of clinical performance in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.
  • Participation in the development and delivery of the group clinical practice at the Center for Women's Health, and off-site OHSU Health Partners , including full spectrum obstetrics and gynecology.
  • Maintaining a fair-share of obstetrics and gynecology call, some of which will require on-site presence at OHSU and/or off-site OHSU Health Partners.
  • Participate in the surgical mentorship for 1 year to hone surgical skills and gain case volume.
  • Expected to have some scholarly activity; this may be limited to educating learners as outlined below, but may also include research, and other grant supported work or academic papers and presentations in disciplines related to their field of expertise.
  • Expected to participate in clinical research as needed, often with the help of trained research support staff and senior faculty principal investigators.
  • Provide clinical education to fellows, residents, and medical students participating in Obstetrics and Gynecology rotations.
  • Help with clinical teaching of nurse and APP trainees.
  • Provide feedback and evaluation, both formally and informally, of learners working in obstetrics and gynecology.
  • Participate in faculty meetings at the division and department level, and serve on OHSU committees and in other activities as requested by the department chair or division head in furtherance of division, department, or OHSU goals and objectives.
