About The Position

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking an Assistant Professor to join a dynamic and collaborative academic team within its expanding Behavioral Health Service Line. This full-time faculty position offers opportunities to contribute across clinical care, teaching, research, and service, with effort distribution and academic track tailored to support individual career development goals. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to provide care across a variety of settings, including outpatient, inpatient, consultation-liaison services, and specialized programs such as Women’s Mental Health, Trauma, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Addictions. Both traditional and virtual care delivery models are available.

Requirements

  • MD or equivalent degree required.
  • Must be ABPN-certified or eligible for certification in psychiatry, with the expectation of becoming certified in accordance with the UAMS bylaws.
  • Eligibility for and subsequent success in obtaining an unrestricted Arkansas medical license, malpractice insurance, and credentialing by central Arkansas teaching hospitals are required.
  • Successful candidates will be excellent clinicians as well as outstanding teachers or researchers.
  • Able to work well collaboratively and enjoy being part of a team that accomplishes more than any individual can.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Providing excellent clinical care, including evidence-based psychiatric diagnostic assessment and treatment.
  • Completing medical records according to professional standards and in a timely manner using the UAMS EMR system.
  • Additional service to the College, University, and profession is expected as needs are identified.
